WHAT TO EAT IN SAN JOSÉ DE GRACIA
Be sure to try the traditional "pacholas."
The "pacholas," are made with ground beef mixed with chili and spices. The meat is cooked until it has a crispy consistency similar to a tostada and is served with radishes, potatoes, red onion, and lettuce.
Gorditas are another typical snack of the region, and here you can enjoy them filled with beans.
There are also establishments where you can enjoy fish and shellfish and also have a spectacular view of the dam. In this area there are several restaurants, some of them casual, where you can try the local gastronomy.
Another of the prides of this town is membrillate, a sweet made with quince paste and sugar.

“Membrillate” Recipe
Ingredients:
- 50 washed quinces
- sugar
Directions:
Boil the quinces in enough water to cover them. When they start to burst and soften, take them out of the water and drained.
When they cool, remove the shell, core and seeds.
The amount of sugar you need to add is exactly the same that the weight of the quinces.
