In Kino the most common craf are the woodcarved zoomorphic figures made by the Seris, an ethnic group also known as Comcaac.. Ironwood carving is a Mexican tradition, especially in this region.

You can also buy attractive lamps decorated with shells that artisans collect on Shark Island or Punta Chueca. Beautiful necklaces and earrings are made with these same shells.

The women of this ethnic group make baskets with vegetable fibers from the desert: torote and ocotillo. Each basket has a deep religious meaning for the Seris and the most important items is a kind of basket called the corita.

To colect the material they havew to walk long distances in the desert and select the fibers, then have to dyed with organic materials and sew each piece with a deer thorn used as a needle. Their peculiarity is this baskets can contain liquid, since these fibers swell in contact with water.
