THE SWEETEST PLACE ON THE CENTRAL MEXICO

Celaya is known as the Golden Gateway of El Bajío and for its delicious sweets.

Even during colonial times, candies were made in Celaya. In modern establishments, you can request to see the production processes and taste cajeta, obleas, natillas, marinas, gummies, jamoncillos, and other sweets.

You can stroll among the fortified walls of old convents or dare to visit the cemetery that houses the Mummy Museum at night.

It is an important business city and the birthplace of one of Mexico's most important neoclassical architects, Francisco Eduardo Tresguerras. An example of his work is the Temple of Carmen.

An excellent option is to explore the city in a charming tram known as "Cajete" and discover the most representative spots in the city. The route starts at the Municipal Palace and includes many attractions such as the Temple of Carmen, the Morelos Market, the Monkeys Bridge, the Zapote Temple, the Guadalupe Sanctuary, and the Museum of Mummies, among others.
