Guanajuato wine represents a vast territory rich in cultural and natural heritage.

Wine has been produced in Guanajuato for over 400 years, since the Spanish began founding different cities in this region. Currently, there are approximately 300 hectares dedicated to vineyards.

Around 300,000 bottles of wine are produced in the state, and visitors can explore various vineyards with their respective wineries, each offering high-quality products with unique characteristics. Visiting these places allows you to learn more about wine production, enjoy the landscapes and the Guanajuato "terroir," and indulge in the experience of tasting excellent wines and other products from Guanajuato.

There are five established wine routes, two of which are located near San Miguel de Allende, one near León, one in Salvatierra, and another in the city of Guanajuato.

This route covers 106 km around León. During this tour, you can visit Octágono Vineyard, El Lobo Vineyard, and Pájaro Azul Vineyard of Vino Guanamé.

The maximum elevation of the land is 1,850 meters above sea level, and it cultivates six grape varieties: Red Globe (table grape), Tempranillo, Merlot, Syrah, Zinfandel, and Malbec.

The winemaking equipment is made of stainless steel and utilizes advanced technology for production. The cellar uses French and American oak barrels, and they produce eight wine labels.

They offer guided tours on Saturdays from March to October, including wine tastings paired with Mediterranean snacks.

Octágono Winery
