Parras de la Fuente

Parras de la Fuente, one of the oldest settlements in Mexico, is home to impressive colonial architecture. Visitors can explore the cobblestone streets, visit the historic church, and enjoy authentic Mexican cuisine in local restaurants.

It has a winemaking tradition that dates back to the arrival of the Spanish, when the friars who came with the gold seekers found fertile lands suitable for grape cultivation.

This gave rise to Casa Madero, one of the oldest wineries on the continent with a rich history. It began wine production when King Felipe III of Spain granted lands to Don Lorenzo García for vine cultivation and wine and brandy production. Later, during the reign of Maximilian, the winery fell into the hands of the French until it was acquired by the grandfather of President Francisco I. Madero, Evaristo Madero.

When visiting the facilities, visitors can learn about this history, visit the Wine Museum showcasing the wine-making process, stroll through the vineyards, and, of course, delight in exquisite wines.

Parras de la Fuente is also home to other wine producers such as San Lorenzo, Hacienda El Perote, Casa El Vesubio, and the Rivero González vineyard. One can also find significant production of homemade wines that can be purchased in the city's stores.
