Throughout its corners, the state of Morelos is home to majestic Augustinian, Dominican, and Franciscan convents.

This route offers the visitors the opportunity to admire magnificent colonial architecture dating back to the 16th century.

In their decorations, the sensitivity and artistry of indigenous hands are showcased alongside the sturdy structures of European culture.

There are convents in almost every town in the state: Cuernavaca, Tepoztlán, Tlayacapan, Tlalnepantla, Oaxtepec, Atlatlahucan, Totolapan, Yecapixtla, Ocuituco, Tetela del Volcán, Zacualpan de Amilpas, Cuautla, Tlaltizapan, Tlaquiltenango, and Jojutla.

Eleven of these convents were declared UNESCO World Heritage sites in 1994.
