Columna de la Independencia
It is an important icon of the city. It was the first monument erected in honor of the emerging country.
It is a beautiful example of neoclassical style and is another creation by Eduardo Tresguerras.
Originally located in the Main Square, it was moved to Calzada Independencia in the early 20th century. The stone eagle atop the monument was replaced with a metal one.

Plaza de Armas (Main Plaza)
An architectural space framed by beautiful archways.
It was built in 1906 by engineer Brunel.
It features an artistic kiosk and serves as a meeting place for locals and visitors.
Torre hidráulica o Bola de Agua
The Hydraulic Tower or Water Sphere is one of the city's icons and is unique in its kind.
Since 1908, it has supplied water to a large part of the city center.
It was built by Enrique Shobunde to commemorate the centennial of the Independence Proclamation. It is said that a similar tower existed in Germany but was destroyed during World War II.
