Convento de San Francisco
The convent is one of the largest and most beautiful in Mexico.
Its interiors are in Baroque style, and the facade features Plateresque style.
Inside, there is a plaque that specifies the founding date of the city of Celaya, October 12, 1570, as well as the date when prominent figures of the colonial era, Martín de Ortega and his wife María Magdalena de La Cruz, donated the image of the Purísima Concepción, which was brought from Spain in 1577 and became the Patroness of the city.
In the early 19th century, it was remodeled by Tresguerras, making it one of the gems of Guanajuato with elegant altars and a magnificent entrance portico to the temple.
