This region has a semi-dry climate, so the dominant vegetation is thorny scrub and in some parts you will also find wooded vegetation with pine and oak. There are also streams and the San Franco and Belén dams ideal for fishing.
There are palapas, grills, cabins, horseback riding and camping areas.
GUANAJUATO
Peralillo Dam
The Paralillo Dam, near the town of Santa Rosa, with a landscape of oak trees and some cacti, is perfect for camping and enjoy nature.
You can combine camping with other activities such as fishing and cycling.
Sierra de Santa Rosa
In the Sierra de Santa Rosa, a protected natural area, you can camp in the Xúmu Ecological Park surrounded by trees, or in the Llano Largo area.
Las Palomas is one of the greatest attractions of the Sierra and is ideal for those who like to enjoy nature.
Another interesting place is Cuenca de la Esperanza, here you can rent tents, bicycles, telescopes, binoculars, and flashlights. It has the basic services and security.

This is a place with beautiful natural landscapes. It is a volcanic area where the 7 Luminarias are located, which are inactive volcanic craters known as “hoyas”.
SAN JOSÉ ITURBIDE
Vergel de Bernalejo
In the surroundings of Vergel de Bernalejo there are camping areas with all the services, there is no electricity, so you can enjoy the spectacular starry sky.
Additionally, in the same area is the Puente de Dios (Bridge of God), which is a majestic natural wonder. It is a natural arch that was created over thousands of years.
Other natural attractions in the area are the Grutas de Bernalejo (caves) and Los Picachos.
El Salto
It is a hill where you can have a good panoramic view of the entire valley. Located on the road from San José Iturbide to Tierra Blanca at km 16.5.
It is a pleasant place for camping and additionally there are "Astronomical Evenings" to be able to observe the stars on the clear nights that characterize the region.
