This charming Magical Town is considered a hidden treasure in the heart of Mexico due to its attractive colonial architecture, rich history dating back to pre-Hispanic times, and traditions.
As you walk through its cobblestone streets, you can admire its centuries-old churches and colorful mansions filled with stories and legends that will take you on a journey to the past.
Its charm is such that it has inspired literary works, especially those of the famous writer Juan Rulfo, who lived in this town during his childhood. Specifically, "El ánima de Sayula" is set in this Magical Town.

Plaza Principal (Main Plaza)
It is an attractive meeting point where you can sit under lush trees, admire the mountains surrounding the town, and savor a delicious ice cream.
Juan Rulfo Cultural Center
This is a great place to learn more about the life and work of the famous writer. Housed in an old mansion adorned with multiple arches, it is a pleasant venue where workshops and various cultural activities are held.
Additionally, it houses the Archaeological Museum and the Metalworking Museum.
Templo de la Inmaculada Concepción
Built by the Franciscans in the 18th century from pink quarry stone, it features a bell tower topped by a cross. Inside, there is a cross in the atrium dedicated to Saint Rodrigo Aguilar, a canonized priest from Sayula, as well as a series of paintings depicting the life and miracles of various saints.
Sacred Museum of the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Guadalupe
Cuenta con tres salas, en las cuales se encuentra una importante colección de pinturas, esculturas y en general obras de arte religioso de gran valor histórico que datan de los siglos XVI al XIX. Se distingue una bella escultura en piedra de San Francisco de Asís y la tumba de fray José María Casillas Barba, quien fuera un celebre guardián del convento. También se exhiben los famosos Cuchillos de Ojeda que son hechos por habilidosos artesanos locales. Se ubica en el Santuario de la Virgen de Guadalupe.

Visit Zapotlán El Grande
El Grande In this town, you will find the Sayula Lagoon, a saltwater lagoon with no outlet to the sea. During the rainy season, it is an excellent spot for bird watching, including pelicans, seagulls, and swallows. In winter and spring, the landscape changes to a desert terrain, attracting people who enjoy motorcycle stunts.
