It is a place that combines natural beauty and history.

Its architecture evokes the colonial era, and its Historic Center is the best-preserved in the state of Jalisco, with beautiful buildings constructed during the 18th and 19th centuries that blend baroque and neoclassical styles. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1989, as part of the Camino Real de Tierra Adentro.

A visit to the craft center is essential, where you can purchase regional cheeses, sweets, as well as leatherwork, pewter, and other crafts.

It is located in the eastern part of Jalisco, 43 km (45 minutes) from León and 187 km (2 and a half hours) from Guadalajara.

Plaza Constituyentes (Main Plaza)

A beautiful place with a French-style kiosk that serves as a gathering spot for family gatherings.

Parroquia de la Asunción

The Parish is located in front of Constituyentes Square, it is considered the symbol of the city. This building is one of the most notable examples of Latin American Baroque architecture.

Museo de Arte Sacro (Museum of Sacred Art)

Located behind the parish church, it features an exhibition that includes oil paintings, sculptures, vestments, and other artistic objects. The museum also offers an interactive room that tells the local culture, including "charrería" (Mexican rodeo), illustrious figures, and the architecture of Lagos de Moreno.

José Rosas Moreno Theater

Located in front of the Museum of Sacred Art, it is a monumental classical building from the 19th century.

Palacio Municipal (City Hall)

A two-story building with beautiful wrought-iron balconies. Inside, there is a mural painted by Santiago Rosales that symbolizes the struggle of the people of Lagos. Just a few steps away are the municipal market and Plaza IV Centenario, where the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Guadalupe is located. It was built in the early 19th century with a modest facade.

La Iglesia del Refugio

A simple neoclassical construction that holds a beautiful legend of faith, as it was built on the spot where a believer found an image.

El Templo del Rosario

This building dates back to the 18th century and is another beautiful structure in the city, along with the San Felipe Temple with its Gothic style, located in front of a beautiful square with a fountain.

La Rinconada de la Merced

A small two-level stepped plaza that combines several buildings, such as the Rinconada House, an old 18th-century inn that hosted Miguel Hidalgo, and the Temple and Convent of La Merced, an 18th-century neoclassical construction.

Rinconada de las Capuchinas

A beautiful plaza that was part of the Capuchinas Convent, an 18th-century building. The Capuchinas Temple, now the San José Temple, has a facade with Mudéjar elements that contrast with the neoclassical style of its interior.

Casa Montecristo

Considered one of the most important antique houses in the center of the country. It stands out for its Art Nouveau motifs and the finishing touches on its doors and windows.

Quinta Rincón Gallardo

It features a beautiful balustrade and columns in the Ionic style, as well as magnificent quarry moldings decorated with phytomorphic motifs and cherubs.

Next to Quinta Rincón Gallardo is the Luz Parish, a sumptuous early 20th-century building with Tuscan columns and a dome that is a replica of the Sacred Heart of Montmartre in Paris. Inside, there are attractive paintings depicting the life of the Virgin of Luz.

El Templo del Calvario

Located on Calavera Hill, it is another distinctive building in the city with a facade similar to that of St. Peter's Basilica in Rome. From there, you can enjoy a beautiful panoramic view of the city. Inside, notable features include the confessionals, the pulpit, and the floor, all made of mesquite wood.

Agustín Rivera Museum

Located in what used to be the house of the illustrious Laguense writer and historian, dating back to the 17th century, it has two rooms where various exhibitions, workshops, and conferences are held.

The House of Culture

Located in what used to be an 18th-century convent, it features beautiful architecture characterized by windows and doors framed in quarry stone. It has interesting neoclassical altarpieces, 19th-century paintings, and a mural by Gabriel Flores.
