TOWN KNOWN FOR ITS THERMAL WATERS

Its name originates from Nahuatl and means "thermal bath," and to this day, it remains famous for its hot spring resorts.

This Magical Town has a privileged location in the Río Verde valley, surrounded by mountains, and is the birthplace of the hot springs of the west, giving it a very particular scenic beauty.

Walk through its cobblestone streets, admire its marvelous buildings such as the Lateran Basilica and its old mansions, and let yourself be carried away by the magic and tranquility in the air.

Temacapulín is part of the Cañadas de Obregón municipality in the Los Altos region of Jalisco, located two hours from Guadalajara.

Plaza Principal (Main Plaza)

In the plaza, you can enjoy the shade of lush cypress trees and admire a pink quarry stone kiosk with eclectic-style iron benches. This plaza is surrounded by important buildings such as the Government Palace and the Basilica of Our Lady of Remedies. On Sundays, you can enjoy live music during the traditional serenades.

Lateran Basilica of the Virgin of Remedies

Dating back to the 18th century, it is distinguished by its beautiful Doric-style main door framed by columns and its two-tiered bell tower. Inside, you can see the patron virgin. It was named a basilica in 1959.

Hot Spring Resorts

The hot spring resorts are one of the main attractions of Temacapulín and offer options for all tastes. 

The Temacapulín Recreational Center integrates three water parks with children's areas, pools, slides, hot spring baths with healing properties, and restaurants.

El Salitrecombines nature, pleasant facilities, and hot spring waters with healing properties, as well as restaurants, children's areas, and therapeutic baths.

Las Peñitasoffers personalized service, pools, palapas, slides, and hot spring pools.

Other popular resorts are Los Cazos, El Salto, and Las Piedras.

Rodolfo Gaona Bullring

Considered the oldest in the Americas, it was founded around 1680. It is a modest structure with quarry stone cornices. It is located 10 km south of Temacapulín, in the town of Cañadas de Obregón.

Hacienda Cerro Viejo

It is a small hacienda surrounded by maguey plantations. It is surrounded by many stories and legends, some of which have even been captured in local corridos, especially those related to the Mexican Revolution.
