PRE-HISPANIC AND COLONIAL TRADITIONS AMIDST THE MIST AND NATURAL LANDSCAPES

This picturesque town is located at an altitude of 1,000 meters above sea level in the mountains.

Nestled among hills and canyons, its winding cobblestone streets and houses with red roofs are frequently veiled by fog, giving it a very special character.

This unique landscape is complemented by the incomparable aroma of coffee since it produces some of the most aromatic coffees in the country, cultivated in one of the coffee plantations surrounding Cuetzalan, where you can explore the coffee fields and finish with a tasting.

It is said that its original name was Quetzallan, meaning "place where quetzals abound," and it offers a rich blend of history, tradition, crafts, gastronomy, festivities, natural beauty, and much more.

Cuetzalan

Cuetzalan is the heart of the Eastern Sierra, a meeting place between the highland and coastal towns, a traditionally isolated place where its inhabitants have proudly preserved their traditions, where people still dress like their ancestors and don't forget the Dance of the Flyers.

This is a Magical and friendly town that invites you to stroll through its steep cobbled streets.

One of its most rooted traditions is the colorful Sunday market where you can buy beautiful embroideries from the Sierra Norte, among many other typical products. Additionally, you can enjoy the mystical experience of the flyers.

Six kilometers from Cuetzalan, you'll find the archaeological site of Yohualichan, similar to El Tajín in Veracruz, built by the Totonac and Otomi cultures.

This Magical Town is located 176 km (3 hours 15 minutes) from the city of Puebla, 188 km (3 hours 15 minutes) from Xalapa, and 299 km (5 and a half hours) from Mexico City.
