A PARADISE IN THE MIDDLE OF FORESTS, RIVERS, AND MOUNTAINS
This beautiful mountain village and its surroundings constitute a true paradise composed of forests, rivers, mountains, and lagoons.
Its name means "on the wall of trees" in Nahuatl and is part of the region called Sierra Mágica. It is a friendly village known for its monumental constructions.
Its first inhabitants settled in the year 1116 and belonged to the Chichimeca culture. From the pre-Hispanic era, only a few small mounds located in the El Cerrito neighborhood remain.
A significant part of its economy is based on floriculture, which is why it is famous for its Flower Fair held in February, where orchids and azaleas take center stage.
It is located 167 km (2 hours 45 minutes) from the city of Puebla, 107 km (one and a half hours) from Poza Rica, and 166 km (3 hours) from Mexico City.
