Its located on one side of the Plaza de la Soledad.

In colonial times there was a market and an important meeting place. In its surroundings are the houses where the wealthy Spaniards of that time lived.

Today the equestrian statue of Ignacio Allende dominates the square.

The large building in the northeast corner of the plaza was once the Colegio de San Francisco de Sales, attended by Independence heroes Aldama, Umarán and Allende. And in another corner is the house where Ignacio Allende was born.
