Mexico's rich craftsmanship encompasses a wide variety of options, the skill and ingenuity of its craftsmen have taken advantage of all the materials offered by nature to make beautiful creations.
Many of the Mexican handicrafts are exported, confirming that the acceptance of these artistic wonders.
Although some features of modernity have been incorporated, the pieces have been able to preserve the magic and cosmogony of each of the five ethnic groups of the entity: Matlazincas, Mazahuas, Otomíes, Nahuas and Tlahuicas.

One of the traditions that has continued through the years in Malinalco is the elaboration of various crafts, among which are: wood carving, so you can find various figures such as drums, mushrooms and colorful hummingbirds.
You will also find beautiful necklaces and bracelets made with semiprecious or seed stones, as well as embroidered and frayed crafts.
In Malinalco you can find leather goods such as bags, wallets, purses and bracelets, among other products. Likewise, there is a series of natural incenses made with products collected in the nearby forests.

Handicrafts in Metepec
There are tow tipes of earthenware produced in this town, the common earthenware or baked earthenware, and glazed earthenware.
It is known worldwide for its outstanding Trees of Life, for its beauty, color and religious significance, even in the Vatican there is a monumental Tree of Life dedicated to the Virgin of Guadalupe.
Another theme that has also been used by Metepec artisans are the Noah's Ark, with a great variety of models and colors painted by the talented hands of the most skilled pottery artists from Metepec.
Figures of saints, vases, pots and traditional glazed earthenware with a brown background and blue, yellow and white drawing borders are some other beautiful pieces found in this town.
Among the modern items, you will find beautiful frames for mirrors and the enormous pots of two handles.
There are also beautiful stained glass windows and saddlery works.
In some neighborhoods of Metepec such as Espíritu Santo, Santiaguito, San Mateo and Santa Cruz there are pottery workshops many of them operate within a family structure and you can buy ceramic pieces with imaginative and modern design.
Other option to buy the incredible creations of the artisians is the Metepec Handicraft Market and the Casa del Artesano. When you visit the Handicraft Market, you can learn a little more about how these beautiful works are made, and with luck you can even ask the artisan if you can try making your own creation.
There is a flea market every Monday with a wide variety of pottery products.

In Temoaya the skill of the Otomi is manifested in the hand-woven oriental style rugs. The work is highly labor-intensive, with each knot done by hand using 100% virgin wool which may or may not be dyed by the artisan.
Sizes of finished products range from 30×30 cm to 1.80×2.70 meters, and for example a piece of 60 x 90 centimeters the craftsman takes 15 to 20 days and on a mat of 90 x 1.20 meters can more than a month.

Teotihuacan is famous for the onyx and obsidian crafts, which are clear reminiscences of the past. Here you can find figures, decorative pieces and jewelry.
There are several obsidian mines of various types in the surroundings of Teotihuacán, so you can find a large number of items, masks, plates, jewelry and decorative objects made with obsidian.

This beautiful Magical Town offers a wide variety of handicrafts of very good quality. There are wooden crafts as woolen fabrics with embroidery or fraying and leather work.
There are also ceramics and pottery, you can find nice pots and cups, but also attractive tableware with sophisticated contemporary designs.
The region is also known for its attractive basketry work. Here you will find plates, fruit bowls, individual tablecloths and of course baskets.
