A SEDUCTIVE COMBINATION OF CHARM AND NATURE

Separated from the Mexican coast by a shallow lagoon that provides refuge to thousands of flamingos, pelicans, and a wide variety of marine life. It's an island, approximately 4.02 km long and 1.61 km wide. On its beaches, you can enjoy clear and shallow waters, perfect for collecting seashells. Besides, it's one of the best places in the Caribbean to admire beautiful sunsets.

The urban landscape offers typical island-style buildings and various displays of urban art that give it a colorful and unique character.

Its main square has several stalls offering various treats such as crepes, churros, and marquesitas, among others. It's not uncommon to hear some Caribbean chords in a peaceful and cheerful atmosphere.

Holbox Village, offers all the amenities, including some rustic-style boutique hotels that accentuate the atmosphere of tranquility that characterizes life on the island. There are eco-friendly accommodations that solely use natural resources for their operation and are known for their personalized service. There are also camping areas.

You can also enjoy typical dishes such as lobster and fresh seafood in some of its traditional restaurants.

The island is very peaceful, and you can rent a bike, scooter or golf cart, and have the best fun of your life.

In February, the island hosts the International Public Art Festival, which offers local and international artists the space to create beautiful murals. In November, the Holbox Gastronomic Festival takes place, showcasing the best of the island's cuisine.

The main natural attractions in the area are Yalahau Lagoon and its famous freshwater spring, Isla Pasión, and the splendid Ensenada Beach. Holbox is a privileged area to get up close to whale shark populations, especially from June to September.

To get to Isla Holbox from Cancún, you take a 2-hour journey to the town of Chiquilá, where boats depart to the island between 5:00 and 19:00 hrs.

Bioluminescence in Holbox

This is a natural phenomenon that can be observed during the nights on the island's coastline. It's caused by microorganisms that produce a luminous effect when they come into contact with the waves.

It's more visible when the water temperature is warmer, so the best months to appreciate it are from March to November.

There are tours that depart after 20:00 hrs. on kayaks, paddleboards, or water bikes, heading towards the mangroves to get as far away from artificial lights as possible

It's a magical experience where you can enjoy nature, a beautiful starry sky, and a beach where you can wade into the water up to 200 meters, and the water will only reach your waist. You can create shapes and even write names by manipulating these organisms.

To conclude the tour, you can go observe the crocodiles living in the mangrove.
