It is a small island within the Laguna Yalahao covered with shrubs and mangroves and is the preferred destination for bird lovers.
To protect the fragile ecosystem, there are two observation points and boardwalks. Of the 520 bird species that have been detected on the Yucatan Peninsula, this island is home to 155 of them.
Among the birds that can be observed are pelicans, ducks, white ibises, and storks, to name a few. From April to October, thousands of pink flamingos can be seen on this island.
