It is located in a rocky bay surrounded by jungle and mangrove vegetation with a beautiful and wide beach, it is the place where sea turtles arrive to lay their eggs, so with the necessary precautions, tours are organized to watch the nesting and the release of baby turtles from July to November.
Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve
The reserve has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and has a coastal area with part of the Great Mayan Reef, mangroves, petenes, swamps, jungle, cenotes and 23 archaeological sites. You can access the Reserve by water through the Chunyaxché channel, traveling by boat through the channels between mangroves and enjoying the great variety of birds and archaeological remains that you can see among the tall grasses and petenes.
Tulum National Park
Its main attraction is the impressive archaeological zone. It is an area with mangrove swamps, cenotes and beaches, where some white and loggerhead turtles come to spawn.
Isla Contoy National Park
The intricate mangrove vegetation in almost 80% of the island is the habitat of a great variety of endemic and migratory birds such as the frigate bird, the brown pelican and the double crested cormorant, among others. Its beaches are sanctuaries for the nesting of hawksbill, white and loggerhead turtles. In the Park you can access the 25-meter (82 feet) high lookout tower to enjoy a panoramic view of the island.
