ONE OF THE BEST BEACHES IN THE CARIBBEAN
Picturesque village ideal for water sports, a true tropical paradise with shallow waters, protected by a large reef wall, where you can find from snappers to lobsters.
Costa Maya Pier is located north of the lighthouse, here is where big cruise ships dock, and it has become the second most important cruise port in the country.
The pier features a magnificent shopping center. South of the lighthouse you will find shops, restaurants, hotels and beach clubs. There are lodging options for all budgets, from cabins to sophisticated luxury apartments.
There is also the beautiful beach that is a natural pool of incredible blue and emerald tones, thanks to the proximity of the reef.
Nearby is the Chinchorro Bank Biosphere Reserve, a coral atoll about 40.2 kilometres (25.0 mi) long from north to south, and approximately 16 kilometres (9.9 mi) wide at its widest point, it is the largest in the country and the second largest in the world. It surrounds a great barrier of coral of 20 meters of thickness that remains totally submerged. The atoll has three islands, Cayo Norte, Cayo Centro and Cayo Lobos, the natural vegetation is largely mangrove and some palm trees.
