This is an archaeological site and a small village located where the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico meet.
It is at the northeastern tip of the Yucatan Peninsula, just 18 km southeast of the Cabo Catoche lighthouse.
The Spanish arrived here in 1517 and named it "Gran Cairo".

Â
Ekab
It was a port in pre-Hispanic times located in the northeast of the Yucatan Peninsula.
It is well-documented that the first encounter between the Mayans and Europeans took place here.

Punta Cocos
Located in the southwest of the island, it offers white sandy beaches and crystal-clear shallow waters with gentle waves.
It is a semi-deserted beach ideal for your Instagram posts.
You can walk along the beach and enjoy the scenery or rent a bike and explore the area.
