Snorkeling gear can be rented at most hotels. Some of the best spots include: Punta Cancún, Punta Nizuc along the coasts of the hotel zone; Garrafón and El Farito on Isla Mujeres; Puerto Morelos, and Xel-Há.

You can also snorkel in the nearby cenotes, or in the Cancun Underwater Museum and discover a magical world.

If what you want is a magical and exotic experience, you can snorkel at night; the corals under the light of the lanterns look more alive and colorful and the microalgae shine and look like sparks of green that move around you. In addition, you can see some of the nocturnal inhabitants of the reefs such as octopuses that generally hunt at night.

Another way to explore the underwater world of the Mexican Caribbean in a comfortable and original way is with an underwater scooter known as BOB (Breathing Observation Bubble) with a helmet that contains an oxygenation system. This is a nice and easy way to know the seabed without being a professional diver.
