Before becoming a tourist attraction, it was a market. Its name is derived from Fray Andrés de Urdaneta, who named it after a village in the Philippines, where it means "Chinese Market" in their language.
Currently, it is a meeting point to savor typical cuisine from Jalisco and enjoy some tequilas to the sound of mariachi. Its arcades surround a gazebo where mariachis perform along with regional dances.
It has 18 restaurants that have preserved its bohemian atmosphere.
