This beautiful neoclassical building was designed by the local architect Jacobo Gálvez.

Construction began in 1856 and was inaugurated in 1866 with the performance of Donizetti's opera by soprano Ángela Peralta.

Its main hall resembles the La Scala theater in Milan and features significant artworks, including a mural depicting the fourth chant of the Divine Comedy.

Throughout its history, the theater has undergone several renovations, including new floors, seating, and lighting replacements.

It serves as the home of the Jalisco Philharmonic Orchestra and has a seating capacity of 1,026.
