The square covers an area of 70,000 square meters.
This modern plaza was built in 1982, just a few steps away from the Centro Cultural Cabañas and the San Juan de Dios Market.
It stretches half a kilometer from the Degollado Theater to the Instituto Cabañas and features various shops, restaurants, and an interesting sculptural ensemble consisting of five bronze pieces representing Quetzalcóatl's sacrifice, rising from the earth towards the sky to ignite the sun and generate new light.
The ensemble includes a flame surrounded by four sculptures representing the four cardinal points.
In front of these sculptures is the Centro Joyero (Jewelry Center).
