Naolinco derives from the Nahuatl language and means "The Four Seasons" because in this place, located at 1500 meters above sea level, you can experience all four seasons in a single day.
It is known for its well-preserved colonial buildings, cobblestone streets flanked by colorful houses adorned with wrought iron balconies, rich culture, and tranquil, picturesque atmosphere.
It is famous for the production of footwear, textiles, and white clay art, which you can explore and purchase while navigating the ups and downs of its volcanic stone-paved streets. Especially on Doctor Rafael Lucio Street, you'll find a wide variety of leather products such as shoes, belts, jackets, and wallets of good quality and at good prices.
Another attraction is its natural surroundings, with beautiful waterfalls amid lush vegetation.
The best time to visit Naolinco is during the Day of the Dead season when the streets are filled with altars, families cook traditional dishes, and the cemetery is adorned with candles and flowers.
Another important celebration is the patronal feast of San Mateo, where locals organize the Dance of Moors and Christians, representing the Spanish fight to reclaim Christian areas invaded by Muslims.

Tourist Attractions in Naolinco
Historic Center
It encompasses several blocks with old houses, the Plaza de Armas, the Parish of San Mateo Apóstol, and the Sayago Plaza. It also includes a handicrafts area where you will also find some of Naolinco's typical delights such as wood-fired bread, ice creams, toritos wines, and traditional sweets.
La Purísima Pharmacy
This is one of the best-preserved pharmacies in Veracruz. Don Narciso Bartolomé founded it in 1907 and it has retained its charm with wooden shelves and about 400 old jars. There are also other objects used by pharmacists such as jars, mortars, and pipettes, as well as old formulas. In fact, you can still buy natural medicines. Open from 9:00 to 18:00 hrs. It is located next to the Municipal Palace.
Parroquia de San Mateo Apóstol
Located in the main square, it has a sober neo-Gothic facade highlighting the figure of the apostle San Mateo at the top.
Naolinco Cemetery
The cemetery was declared a historical heritage of Veracruz by INAH in 2010 due to its beautiful collection of 19th-century tombs that include impressive marble figures, old wrought iron, and colorful designs. Visiting the cemetery on the Day of the Dead is impressive, as all the graves are illuminated and adorned with offerings.
Naolinco Viewpoint
It is known as the "Balcony of Death," because, according to locals, several workers lost their lives during its construction. It is located over a large ravine and is one of the most spectacular in Veracruz. From here you can view two impressive waterfalls cascading down the mountainside. The best time to visit is during the rainy season when the waterfalls have more water.
Naolinco Waterfall
It is formed by the flow of the El Órgano River and has a drop of 80 meters. There is a two-level viewpoint from which you can enjoy a beautiful panorama.
