CÓRDOBA

El Sótano o Sumidero de Popoca

It has a 70 m (230 ft) high shot with an impressive waterfall that ends in a large river at the bottom, the habitat of blind fish and a wide variety of amphibians and insects. You will have to rappel at the mouth of the cellar and after seeing the magnificent rainbow formed by the water vapor released by the waterfall, the adventure begins.

On the way you will be able to see swifts birds come and go and admire the waterfall. In the background there is a huge horizontal cave, to explore it you will have to walk next to the underground river, until it disappears in a siphon in a dark environment. In the pools you can admire amphibians and fish that are considered endemic fauna. You need to have some experience and phisical condition to explore this cave. Located in the Sierra Negra de Zongolica just over an hour from Córdoba.

Cascadas del río Atoyac

This cave system is located north of Córdoba and has several caves and caverns.

In this area you can explore:

La Gruta de la Cama del DiabloGruta de la Cama del Diablo, dry caverns located very close to the Atoyac waterfall and which are very easy to navigate.

La Gruta de BaldoGruta de Baldo, is a group of caves located fifteen minutes from Rancho Fermín. This group requires greater skill to explore, since it involves rappelling, zip lines and experience in speleology.

El Sótano de TepejilotesSótano de Tepejilotes, is a sinkhole that requires rappelling, free fall and experience in caving.

XALAPA

Cueva de la Orquídea (Orchid Cave)

It is a unique place located within the city of Xalapa, you can explored it without leaving the city. This cave is a small monogenetic volcano with a slope of 20º to 30º. Inside, a tomb dating back to approximately 1,500 B.C. was found. You cannot miss this adventure in the city.

Grutas del Volcancillo

The caves are inside a crater of a volcano that erupted many years ago. It is not very easy to get to the caves especially in the rainy season. Located in the municipality of Las Vigas, 40 minutes from Xalapa.
