ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT PORTS IN SOUTHERN MEXICO
Its name comes from Nahuatl and means "place where the snake hides." This destination combines the natural beauty of its surroundings with various recreational parks, good tourist infrastructure, and above all, a very important cultural heritage.
Currently, it has become a prosperous city with wide avenues and modern infrastructure, evident in its majestic bridges, Coatzacoalcos I and II. The first bridge features a movable platform that lifts to allow passage for large ships, while the second bridge, a product of modern engineering, is adorned with gigantic statues.
This city owes its importance to being one of the nine ports in the Gulf of Mexico and its petroleum and petrochemical industry.
There are interesting archaeological sites of the Olmec culture nearby. Additionally, it has several kilometers of beaches, a promenade, and the mighty Coatzacoalcos River where you can engage in a variety of water sports.
