TOP SIGHTS IN ORIZABA

Alameda Francisco Gabilondo Soler Cri-Cri

It was inaugurated in the mid-19th century. It is associated with some historical events of Orizaba.

It features two monuments dedicated to two prominent figures from the city: Francisco Gabilondo Soler and General Ignacio de la Llave.

Auditorio Metropolitano

This space was previously occupied by the Orizaba Theater.

It was remodeled and modernized to become an excellent venue for conferences, concerts, and conventions. It is the largest auditorium in the state of Veracruz.

Mercado Cerritos

This is a unique market where you can find a variety of things in one place.

In addition to typical market stalls, it houses a pharmacy, medical clinic, clinical laboratories, the School of Music and Fine Arts, a bakery, and a children's play area. It has a capacity for 1,400 merchants.

It also hosts two clothing bazaars that are set up every Saturday of the week.

Mercado de Artesanías de las Altas Montañas

Orizaba also has an interesting Crafts Market.

Here, you can find a wide variety of items such as traditional sweets, necklaces, carved furniture, paintings, clothing, and ceramic objects, among others.

Palacio de Hierro (Iron Palace)

It is located in front of the cathedral and is one of the most emblematic buildings in the city.

The metallic structure and other components such as sheets, doors, posts, and even screws were designed by the renowned French engineer Gustave Eiffel and brought from Belgium.

Palacio Municipal de Orizaba

The Municipal Palace is a huge construction built on the gardens of the Franciscan friars. This imposing building dates back to the early 20th century and features a neoclassical style.

Inside, on the staircase, there is a splendid mural by José Clemente Orozco called "Reconstrucción" or "Revolución Social," depicting the tragedy experienced by peasants during the time of the Revolution.

Parque Apolinar Castillo

This park stands out for its beautiful central kiosk. The kiosk dates back to the early 20th century, and what makes it unique is that you can see the notes of the National Anthem engraved on it.

Paseo del Río y Reserva Animal (Animal Reserve)

The promenade has a length of 3 km. While walking along it, you can appreciate the natural beauty and historical buildings of the city.

Along the river, there is an animal reserve that has allowed for the reproduction of endangered species such as jaguars and crocodiles.

Plaza Bicentenario (Bicentennial Plaza)

It is located next to the Orizaba River and the Animal Reserve. In this plaza, you can find an 18th-century building that has been restored to become part of this pleasant place.

There are playgrounds for children, exhibition spaces, and cultural events.

Plaza de Toros “La Concordia” (Bullring)

It is a monumental venue with a capacity for 6,000 people. It was inaugurated in 1994 and with its modern and comfortable facilities, it is considered one of the most avant-garde bullrings in the country.

It is surrounded by beautiful gardens, a large fountain, and has a chapel and a restaurant.

Poliforum Mier y Pesado

It was inaugurated in 1944, and its construction resembles a castle adorned with quarry stone. It is surrounded by beautiful gardens with large trees and a dancing fountain.

It houses the Francisco Gabilondo Soler Museum, the Orizaba Museum, Ayer, Hoy y Sala de Presidentes, the Costume Museum, the Sala de las Casitas, the Digital Library of Orizaba, a chapel, event halls, and a restaurant area known as "Los Portales de Orizaba."

Teatro Ignacio de la Llave

Cable Car

For a panoramic view of the destination, there's nothing like taking a ride on the cable car.

With a height of 3,230 m, it is considered one of the highest cable cars in the country. You can traverse its 917 m length while enjoying views of the city and the beautiful surroundings.
