This town, with a semi-desert climate, has a long history reflected in archaeological sites, haciendas, temples, colonial houses, and a countless number of natural attractions in its surroundings.

Cadereyta de Montes offers both desert landscapes and some wooded areas, making it very appealing for those who want to enjoy outdoor activities and connect with nature.

Close to the town is Vizarrón, a small settlement with important marble deposits; even its pavements are made of this rock.

It is located 73 km (one hour) from the city of Querétaro and 204 km (3 hours and 20 minutes) from Mexico City.

This square dates back to 1640 and is surrounded by old houses with large wooden doors and romantic balconies. It's the ideal place to enjoy some delicious buñuelos.

Palacio Municipal (City Hall)

Another emblematic building in this beautiful "Pueblo Mágico."

Museo de la Alcadía Mayor de Cadereyta (Museum)

This museum is divided into three rooms: Cadereyta in space and time, The grandparents' room, and From haciendas to charro traditions. These rooms exhibit a series of objects that tell the region's history.

Noteworthy is the mummy "Pepita," a Chichimec girl of approximately two years old found in a nearby cave, believed to have lived around 300 BC, making it the oldest mummy in the country.

Opening hours: Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm.

Parroquia de San Pedro y San Pablo (Parish)

A neoclassical construction from the 18th century, it is one of the oldest and most important Franciscan temples in the region. It features a clock from the Porfirian era and a beautiful churrigueresque-style carved wooden altarpiece, the work of the sculptor Pedro de Rojas.

Iglesia de San Gaspar (Church)

A building dating back to 1759 with a neoclassical façade that contrasts with the Baroque elements of its interior.

Religious Buildings

Two other temples worth visiting are: the Temple of El Refugio, built from 1876 to 1879 in a sober neoclassical style, and the Temple of La Soledad, built in 1828 in a neoclassical style, inspired by the design of the Metropolitan Cathedral of Mexico City.

Botanical Gardens

One of its greatest attractions is the botanical gardens. La Quinta Fernando Schmoll is the most important nursery on the continent for the study, research, and reproduction of cacti; it houses over three thousand plants, some of them endangered, including African succulents and aloes.

The other garden is the Regional Botanical Garden Ing. Manuel González de Cosío, covering 10 hectares and featuring agaves, biznagas, órganos, viejitos, cardones, yucas, and other desert climate plants. A few meters from the garden is the famous Pilancón, which served as an aqueduct to transport water from the surrounding sources to the center of the main garden. This Pilancón is surrounded by four fountains: El Pinto, La Grande, El Carrizal, and La Central.

Planetario José Hernández Moreno (Planetarium)

A place for those who enjoy exploring the universe. It has two telescopes, one solar and one astronomical. This place organizes astronomical evenings on Thursdays and Saturdays at night.
