BERNAL
Peña de Bernal
Pena de Bernal is a monolith in Mexico that rises a whopping 1,420 feet above the Pueblo Magico tucked at its feet. It is the largest in the country and the third largest in the world. Its altitude is a challenge for those who like rock climbing.
It is made of limestone and has numerous sports routes of up to 350 m (1,148 ft) in length, most of them are of moderate grade, although there are some more difficult. Several of his routes are up to seven pitches, rigged with mostly medium and low grade bolts, except for one 5.12b route on the north face.
Some of these routes are: Via Ferrata, which offers iron rods, although you must be very carful in your climbing. La Bernalina, is for professional climbers who can evaluate the quality of the stone and choose the direction of the itinerary. Vía del Padre, is located to the right of the previous one and is a route that faces greater technical difficulties since it advances through a vertical Wall. Northwest Edge, runs on the same vertical wall, so the climber is also required to have experience.
There are sectors for sports located on the slopes of Peña de Bernal such as El Capitán Calzón with more than 20 routes or La Meada with three routes.
