WOODED LANDSCAPES, WATERFALLS, AND CAVES
It is one of the most beautiful places in the Sierra Gorda of Querétaro, which is why it has become a favorite destination for adventure and ecotourism enthusiasts. It is also known as the venue for the National Huapango Contest.
In this town, Huapango is very common, and if you're lucky, you can see some groups dancing and playing in the village. If you want to make sure you see it, you can visit San Joaquín in April when the National Huapango Contest takes place.
The local handicrafts in this town are related to woodwork, so you can find beautiful furniture, picture frames, and other decorative objects.
Due to its high altitude, this Magical Town has a rather cool temperature, with an average annual temperature of 15ºC.
It is located 139 km (about 2 hours and 15 minutes) from the city of Querétaro and 266 km (about 4 and a half hours) from Mexico City.

Templo Parroquial de San Joaquín (Temple)
One of the most representative buildings in San Joaquín is its parish church, which has two large half-point arch doors located at its ends.
In the center, there is a two-story tower with a pyramid on top, and below that is a clock. Inside, the image of San Joaquín stands out.
Museo Comunitario Mineral (Community Museum)
Located on the upper floor of the Municipal Library building, it has two rooms where artifacts from the different indigenous groups that inhabited San Joaquín are exhibited, as well as the Parish of San Joaquín, with its bright colors and clock tower.
Ranas Archeological Zone
Just 3 km from this Magical Town, you'll find the Ranas archeological zone, a settlement that was occupied from 600 to 1000 AD. You can still see its squares, various structures, and a ball game court. The buildings offer an extraordinary panoramic view of the region.
Toluquilla Archeological Zone
This zone was inhabited since 400 AD. It is one of the best-preserved areas in the region, allowing you to walk through its streets and observe the residential complexes.
