A beautiful mountain village.

A beautiful mountain village with cobblestone streets and pastel-colored houses that are often covered in mist.

Here, you can visit the Temple of San Juan Bautista, which has a distinctive tower. As you walk through its alleys, you can observe the remnants of a Franciscan convent and its traditional "Callejón del Beso" (Alley of the Kiss).

You must visit the Sanctuary of El Peñón, built on a rock where, according to the locals, the Virgin of Guadalupe appeared. The image can still be seen on the hillside where the church was built.

You can access the Tonacatecutl viewpoint, located at an altitude of 1020 meters, after a long staircase and a suspension bridge. The panoramic view is truly spectacular, and on clear days, it is said that you can see all the way to the sea of Veracruz.

In the surroundings, you can explore Ecatlán, which is only 25 minutes from Jonotla. The road is surrounded by tropical forests, and you can descend to the San Miguel Bridge, located between two hills that connect Jonotla with Cuetzalan. You can also visit natural pools formed by the Tozán River and bathe in the midst of nature.

Don't miss the opportunity to acquire some exceptional crafts from the town, such as animal-shaped logs or various pieces made from jonote fiber.
