ANCESTRAL HISTORY, BEAUTY, AND EXCELLENT GASTRONOMY

Comitán is one of the most beautiful colonial cities in Mexico and one of the best-preserved settlements in the border area of Chiapas. In this Magical Town, you can experience the pre-Hispanic and colonial mix.

Originally, the city was composed of nine neighborhoods, a number that is significantly related to the ancient name of the city (Balún Canán, place of the nine stars).

The city is full of history with a regular layout, magnificent colonial churches, and traditional architecture with neoclassical-style houses and flowered courtyards.

It is one of the destinations that serves as a starting point to explore one of the regions with the most cultural and natural attractions in the beautiful state of Chiapas.

A pleasant way to explore Comitán is by taking a ride on the tourist tram known as "El Cositía," which visits the town's tourist spots and neighborhoods, allowing you to learn about their traditions and legends.

You must visit the Crafts Plaza, where pieces from all over the state are exhibited.

Comitán has a temperate climate with an average annual temperature of 18°C (64°F) due to its location on a plateau at an altitude of 1,500 meters above sea level. There are not many temperature variations throughout the year, with maximum temperatures reaching around 25°C (77°F) during the hot months and dropping to an average of 15°C (59°F) during the cold months.

It is located 149 km (3 hours) from Tuxtla Gutiérrez and 93 km (2 hours) from San Cristóbal de las Casas.
