In the surroundings of this city there is a great variety of amazing natural beauties.
Lagos de Montebello
This place is considered one of the most beautiful in the entire country and you have the opportunity to choose whether to camp near a blue or emerald lagoon, every one of them with their own characteristics surrounded by low-lying mountains.
On the shores of Lake Tziscao there is a small town where you buy groceries, and some of the residents even offer camping spaces with use of a bathroom. Be sure to visit Isla de la Tortuga, a small islet in the middle of the lake.
Las 3 Tzimoleras
To get to this beautiful corner you will have to travel a dirt road but your reward will be to see one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Chiapas. Along the way, or near the waterfalls, you can camp and enjoy nature. However, we recommend that you go with a guide.

PALENQUE
Throughout the entire state you can camp in landscapes as different as mountains, jungle, waterfalls, rivers or beaches.
There are several Ecotourism Centers that have camping areas and services that make the experience very pleasant and safe.
Cascada de Agua Azul (Waterfall)
One of the best places for camping is the Agua Azul Waterfalls. It is a wonderful place where the blue of the waters contrasts with the green of the exuberant vegetation.
Specifically on the banks of the Tulijá River you can establish your camp. The area does not have bathrooms.
Centro Ecoturístico las Guacamayas (Ecotourism Center)
This ecotourism center take very seriously the preservation of the environment and and adopt good practices to reduce the negative effects. It is located within the Montes Azules Biosphere Reserve on the edge of the Lacantún River surrounded with impressive natural beauties.
Here hundreds of scarlet macaws will welcome you, along with howler monkeys, spider monkeys, coatis, opossums and some tapirs, ocelots and pumas, among many others.
The center has a restaurant and cabins.
Laguna de Metzabok (Lagoon)
Another option in the Palenque area is the Metzabok Lagoon, a magnificent natural area where there are approximately 24 lagoons where you can camp in the middle of cedars, coabas and ceibas. We advise you to ask about the legends of the place.
SAN CRISTÓBAL DE LAS CASAS
Parque Ecoturístico Grutas de Rancho Nuevo (Ecotourism Park)
It is located just 15 km from San Cristóbal de las Casas and in addition to camping areas, the park offers horseback riding, children's games and food stalls. You will also have the opportunity to explore some interesting caves.
TAPACHULA
La Encrucijada Ecological Reserve
There are coastal mangroves all along the reserve. If you really want to enjoy nature, there are nice places for camping. In addition, you can take a boat from the Las Garzas pier to tour the estuaries, the habitat of hundreds of bird species.
