Montebello Lagoons
Biking is a good way to geta round these beautiful lagoons. If you are in good shape and want to enjoy incredible landscapes, you can opt for a longer route, since they are surrounded by mountains full of challenges.
PALENQUE
EcoMundo Recreational Park
This park has incredible natural settings whith several trails that run through the jungle. This park offers a variety of experiences such as canoeing or kayaking, paddle boarding, fishing and an exciting zip line.
It is located at km 4 of the Palenque Tourist Corridor to the Archaeological Zone.
Mountain Biking in Chiapas
SAN CRISTÓBAL DE LAS CASAS
There are several biking trails around the Magical Town, between dirt roads, gaps and narrow paths with varying degrees of difficulty, technique and physical effort.
Among these routes are: the Ruta de los Molinos (Mills Route) where you can visit the buildings dedicated to milling wheat dated from the 17th to the 19th centuries; along the way you can visit caves and other historical buildings.
The Ruta de Pueblos Indígenas (Route of Indigenous Peoples) starts from San Cristóbal de las Casas and goes west, along the old road via San Felipe Ecatepec, with magnificent forests scenes and the Huitepec mountain. Along this route you can visit San Juan Chamula and Zinacatán, towns full of culture and ancestral traditions. The path is made up of trails with short periods on asphalt combined with others surrounded by vegetation and spectacular views.
You can also take the route that leads to the Quinta de los Obispos, which was the resting place of the bishops of Chiapas, and cross a dirt road that leads to the Arcotete Ecotourism Park, with its impressive natural stone arch that has been carved by hundreds of years the river Fogótico. Another attractive route is the one that leads to the “Grutas de Rancho Nuevo” Ecotourism Park, 3 km from San Cristóbal de las Casas.
Evergreen Ranch, located near San Cristóbal de las Casas, offers marked trails for various levels and degrees of difficulty.
