Catedral de San Marcos

The Cathedral was built in the 16th century and renovated in 2009.

The tower houses a carillon with 48 bells that play melodies every hour to accompany the figures of the 12 apostles parading on a pedestal.

Centro Cultural Jaime Sabines

A complex that encompasses various expressions of art and culture.

At the entrance, there is a bronze sculpture of the poet Jaime Sabines, created by sculptor Luis Aguilar, inspired by one of Sabines' verses: "My body is made of air and words."

Congreso del Estado

The building is located at the southern end of the Civic Plaza.

It was built in 1982, and its main attraction is the swallows that have made the interior of the dome their home, creating a spectacle during their daily evening return.

Cristo de Chiapas

A monumental statue located at the top of Mactumaczá Hill.

With a height of 62 meters, it surpasses even the Christ the Redeemer statue in Brazil, which measures 30 meters.

Made of stainless steel, it is illuminated at night, changing colors, and can be seen from any point in the capital.

Jardín Botánico Faustino Miranda

The Botanical Garden covers 4.4 hectares along the Sabinal River.

This garden showcases native species from the central region of the state, with a special emphasis on endangered endemic species.

It features over 900 species.

Palacio de Gobierno (Government Palace)

The modern government palace, the seat of the Executive Branch of the State, was built between 1979 and 1981.

It is the most important of the civic buildings surrounding the Civic Plaza.

The land it occupies has great historical importance, as it was the site of the Casa Común or Consistorial during the colonial period and the government palace built at the end of the 19th century to house the recently moved powers from San Cristóbal.

Parque Bicentenario de Tuxtla Gutiérrez

It features a spectacular 25-meter flagpole.

It was built in 1942 with pre-Hispanic details.

There are two female figures holding hands, commemorating the 1824 agreement between the Federation of Chiapas and the Republic of Mexico.

It has a children's play area and space for public events.

Parque Jardín de La Marimba

It is a place with beautiful gardens and a central kiosk.

Musical concerts are held here, with the marimba, the emblematic instrument of Chiapas, taking center stage.

It is a place where people gather to dance and is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful folk and cultural sites in the capital.

Parques Salomón González Blanco (Joyyo Mayu y Caña Hueca)

These spaces are better known as Joyyo Mayu and Caña Hueca.

They are beautiful green areas for fun, recreation, and outdoor sports activities.

They are located along a bend in the Sabinal River, and the large sabino trees along the riverbank stand out.

Teatro de la Ciudad (City Theater)

The City Theater was constructed by architect Abraham Zabludowsky.

It was inaugurated in 1982 and is undoubtedly one of the best examples of contemporary architecture in the city, as well as one of the most modern and complete theaters in the country.

It has a 800 m2 stage area and a capacity for 1,200 spectators.

It is constantly active and varied, and in addition to the performances presented there, it has an art gallery in the lobby.
