COMITÁN DE DOMÍNGUEZ

Montebello Lagoons

There are 59 lagoons with crystalline waters and colors ranging from turquoise blue to emerald green and they are linked by underground rivers. These lagoons are "uvalas" or old cenotes. The rock here is limestone and the lakes are spots where the limestone has been eroded, giving access to the water beneath the surface.

You can dive in two different lagoons “Pojoj” surrounding the island and in “Dos Lagunas” that have a depth between 18 and 27 m. (60 to 90 ft.).

They are located 55 km from the Magic Town of Comitán de Domínguez.

Lagos de Colón

In particular, the Lagartos Lagoon offers a unique underwater landscape with petrified trees and interesting rock formations.

The average depth is 7 to 9 m (25 to 30 ft).

It is located 75 km from Comitán de Domínguez.
