The forts are located on a hill known as Acueyametepec, which offers a beautiful panoramic view of the city of Puebla.

In this landscape, the Popocatépetl and Iztaccíhuatl volcanoes stand out in the west, and the La Malinche volcano in the northeast.

Originally, they were chapels and were reconstructed as fortifications for military purposes in the early 19th century. They served as the main setting for the Battle of Cinco de Mayo in Puebla during the French Intervention.

Declared as historical heritage of Mexico, they have recently been restored. The Loreto Fort houses the Museum of Non-Intervention. As for the Guadalupe Fort, glass perimeter walls have been created to appreciate its historical qualities.
