Its name means "Trunk of the hunhub tree" in Mayan.

It is a picturesque village that dates back to the pre-Hispanic era when it was part of Cochuac and consisted of various buildings.

This place also has remnants from the colonial era and, of course, an interesting history that includes the Caste War in 1847 and its role in the route to Bakhalal, now known as Bacalar.

It features a beautiful church that is part of the Route of the Churches and is the perfect place to learn about Maya customs and traditions, as well as taste traditional food.

Additionally, you can enjoy the natural wonders that surround it, such as the Dzula lagoon.

Among the experiences offered in the area, you can learn about the importance of melipona bees (which are not venomous or sting), observe birds, and learn more about henequen spinning.

There are rustic cabins available for accommodation.
