MODERN CITY WITH ROOTED TRADITIONS
The capital of the state, founded in 1577, took its name from the small waterfall that once formed a water source in the middle of a desert landscape.
The city's historical heritage can be seen in the Historic Center, where pink quarry stone buildings prevail, including the Plaza de Armas, the Cathedral of Santiago, and the government palace, among others.
It is a city where tradition, artistic expressions, and culture blend with modernity, which is why it is known as "The Athens of the North."
There are many reasons to visit this city, from its historic buildings and museums to its growing hotel infrastructure, diverse restaurants, and modern shopping centers.
Additionally, it is surrounded by natural beauty that forms one of the most unique landscapes in Mexico.
Saltillo

Saltillo is the birthplace of the famous sarape, a symbol that distinguishes not only this town but the entire country. This garment, originally from Tlaxcala, is characterized by its intense colors, wide stripes with bright hues, and a classic design. There is no doubt that the most famous sarapes in Mexico are from Saltillo. Nowadays, you can find blankets, rugs, and other traditional products woven here, such as the typical blue and white jorongos with red finishes, in several shopping centers in the city.
There are also interesting places to visit in the surroundings of Saltillo, such as Narigua, which houses numerous petroglyphs, Rincón Colorado, where dinosaur fossils have been found, and Arteaga, a place with abundant forests.
The State Industrial, Commercial, Livestock, and Services Fair of Saltillo takes place in the last week of July and the first week of August.
Saltillo has a semi-warm climate, with an average annual temperature of 14º to 18°C.
