Santiago Cathedral in Saltillo
Built between the years 1746 and 1810, this building was constructed by Friar Felipe Suárez de Estrada.
It features architecture that harmoniously combines Baroque and Churrigueresque styles. Constructed with stone and quarry, it has a facade adorned with columns, medallions, and flowers. The entrance door has a semi-circular arch, and above it is the sculpted papal shield in wood.
The tower, completed in 1897, has three levels topped by an iron cross.
It is one of the largest and most beautiful cathedrals in the country, dedicated to the Apostle Santiago.
Inside, there are numerous Solomonian columns and 45 colonial-era oil paintings, including the notable "The Holy Family." The main altar is Baroque in style and features the image of the Holy Christ of the Chapel.
