ARTEAGA
Monterreal
It is known as the Switzerland of Mexico, located in the Sierra de Arteaga in the middle of a wooded landscape, it is an ideal place to walk through the mountains in the middle of trails that allow you to learn about the flora and fauna of the region.
La Viga
It is located in the Arteaga area and is the highest mountain in Coahuila. On the route you can see the effects of the great fire of 2011, so most of its trees are dry, although there are some reforested areas, the landscape is very unique.
There are several routes to reach the top, but all involve a degree of difficulty due to the steep slope. The great reward is the unbeatable panoramic view from the top where you can see the mountains of the Sierra de Arteaga that stretches for kilometers. We recommend you wear very warm clothing, especially in the winter months.
Las Nieves
It is also in the Arteaga area and it is a route that takes you through different landscapes, starting with a desert including stones and bushes and as you go up you find a wooded vegetation. At the top there is a refuge with good services.
Hiking in Coahuila
CANDELA
One of the most pleasant places to take a walk is Las Lajitas, which is a beautiful body of water located in the middle of the desert. It has grills and benches.
CUATRO CIÉNEGAS
You can walk and explore the various natural pools of different shades of blue, or explore the Marble Mines that have a peculiar aspect, because the walls present straight cuts and in contrast with the mountains, they offer an amazing view.
You can also walk to the top of Cerro del Muerto, to see a panoramic view of Cuatro Ciénegas.
MONCLOVA
Exploring La Viga, the highest mountain in the state, is quite an adventure, since you will walk through a beautiful wooded landscape, you must take into account that some sections have steep slopes.

Maderas del Carmen
Located in the northwest of the State, it is an authentic natural paradise with an area of canyons and mountain ranges with beautiful landscapes that invite you to enjoy its trails.
PARRAS DE LA FUENTE
In the Parras de la Fuente area, you can take a walk through the Lima Canyon and through the filtering galleries, also known as Funque.
SALTILLO
From Saltillo there are several options in its surroundings with routes such as Camino del Agua (Water Road), La Torre (The Tower), Los Osos (The Bears), Los Duendes (The Goblins) and El Chef. In all of them you can enjoy nature through paths that are easy to walk, with landscapes that include imposing rock walls and several bodies of water.
San Lorenzo Canyon
It is located just few minutes from Saltillo and is a pleasant place to walk. There are options for those who like adventure and who want to climb some of its walls, but you can always continue along the path and admire the native fauna such as hares or macaws.
Los Aguajes
It is a beautiful and interesting route where you can admire geological formations in the middle of a forest of pines and oaks; the path runs parallel to a stream. It is located inside the San Lorenzo Canyon.
Tres Caminos (Three ways)
Walk a path located at the bottom of the canyon where you can enjoy contrasting landscapes of forests and vertical walls.
La Panorámica (The Panoramic)
It is known as the “burreros” trail, as it ascends a slope lined with white limestone rock walls and has a spectacular view of the canyon.
El Penitente
It is an option for hiking near Saltillo, the highest point of the Zapalinamé Protected Natural Area.
The route runs through a wooded landscape until reaching a point known as El Cuatro.
In the same protected area you can follow other trails that lead to beautiful valleys that are very pleasant for a pic nic.
TORREÓN
In the surroundings of this city you can explore the beautiful Sierra de Jimulco with semi-desert vegetation.
