The state of Coahuila has 3 climate regions: cold, tropical, and arid.
Having several climates and ecosystems, the state has a great variety of birds, among which we can mention: cardinal, coquita, white-winged dove, hilota dove, blue-eyed magpie, julia, large crow, common mockingbird, scorpion thrasher, thrasher chrysal, thrush, starling, zino, epaulet thrush, grackle, black thrush, Mexican sparrow, golden dominic and English sparrow, among others.
Bird Watching in Cuatrociénegas
The Cuatrociénegas Natural Protected Area is a humid and diverse desert characterized by the large number of species and endemism found in the area. It is considered the second most biodiverse desert in the world.
Its beautiful pools are vestiges of an ancient sea, making this area have a greater number of birds than the rest of the desert that surrounds it.
Among the birds that you can find is the bell's vireo, especially during spring and summer, as well as the harris's hawk and the majestic golden eagle.
You can also find some migratory birds such as the white pelican, sandhill crane, duck, various types of herons, the crowned warbler and Cooper's hawk, among others.

Maderas del Carmen Protected Natural Area
This area has a variety of ecosystems representative of the Chihuahuan desert. Here 69 species of birds have been identified, of which 24 are migratory and 45 residents.
Among the most common are the scaly quail, the white-winged mockingbird, the mourning dove and the brown scratching post. Within the migratory ones are the pale blue tile, the white-tailed sparrow, the white-browed sparrow and the thick blue bill.

Zapalinamé Natural Protected Area
It is in the limits of the Sierra Madre Oriental and the Chihuahuan Desert, so the bodies of water are scarce.
The area is considered nationally as an Area of importance for the Conservation of Birds and is home to 275 species of birds, which represents almost 70% of those registered in Coahuila.
Some of the best places in the natural area for bird watching are the Sierra Hermosa Canyon, the San Lorenzo Canyon and the Las Norias Canyon.

This is a perfect place to admire nature and is considered one of the places with the greatest biodiversity in Coahuila.
