MAJESTIC RIVERS, WATER PARKS, AND BEAUTIFUL ARCHITECTURE

The town was founded in 1753 with the name "Paso del Cántaro," making it the oldest in the border area. In the 19th century, steamboats arrived at Mier through the Bravo River, turning it into an important point in the region.

As you wander through its streets, you can breathe in its rich history and deeply rooted traditions, as Ciudad Mier is the country's oldest border town.

Mier is known for its production of clay in up to seven different colors, which is used to craft all kinds of objects such as pots, pans, and decorative pieces. Embroidery is also a typical craft in Mier, with beautiful designs made using beads, sequins, and glass stones. The bridal dresses made with this art are famous nationwide.

Located in the northeastern part of the state of Tamaulipas, near the border with the United States, Ciudad Mier is just 155 km (2 hours) northeast of Monterrey, 146 km (1 hour and 45 minutes) from Nuevo Laredo, and 112 km (1 hour and 25 minutes) from Reynosa.
