CIUDAD VICTORIA

Troncones Park

The park has hiking routes that extend up to 11 km amid attractive natural landscapes that include bridges and streams. Located half an hour from Ciudad Victoria.

El Cielo Biosphere Reserve

You can walk along the trails that lead to impressive rock formations such as the stone "Elephant" rock that resembles this animal surrounded by a pine forest, "La Casa de Piedra" (Stone House), formation that looks like a house, or "La Gallina" (The Hen).

Miradores de Alta Cima

It has trails where you can see the change in vegetation as you hike to the top. Located two and a half hours from Ciudad Victoria.

San José

This place is located within the El Cielo Biosphere Reserve, almost three hours from Ciudad Victoria. It offers landscapes with exotic plants and colorful birds. There is an option for those who want to fully enjoy the area with a hiking tour from the main square of Gómez Farías to San José. It is a 20 km journey where you can enjoy various natural attractions such as: the Elephant Stone, the Water Cave, the Valley of the Nurseries and the La Campana Hill.

This option has a moderate difficulty, but it does require a good physical condition.

 

Hiking in Tamaulipas

Cañón de la Servilleta

It is an ideal place for hiking where you can explore the river and its calm pools. Located in the municipality of Jaumave, almost two hours from Ciudad Victoria.

Manantial Los Nogales

It is a natural water park place where the channels of the Guayalejo and Chihue rivers meet. You can walk among the paths surrounded by lush vegetation. Located an hour and a quarter from Ciudad Victoria.

Charco Azul or Poza Azul

This beautiful place is a virgin area so there are no services but you can enjoy all its natural beauty. There are two trails to get to the Poza Azul, the first is through Los Ébanos, here you will have to walk for approximately 20 minutes and on the way you can enjoy waterfalls, canyons and pools of turquoise water. The second option is through San Lorencillo, here you will travel 4 km of dirt road and later 300 m of trail. You will have to walk less, but you will not enjoy all the beautiful attractions of the area. Located 8 km from Jaumave, one hour from Ciudad Victoria.

 

La Reja

This is the name by which one of the ridges of the Sierra Madre is known. This tour goes from Ciudad Victoria to Las Mulas, located approximately 30 km away. From this point there is a path that is 13 km long and goes up from an altitude of 1,480 meters over the sea level to 1,800 meters over the sea level. Although the slope is not very steep, it is important to be in good condition and be used to the altitude.

TAMPICO

Bernal de Horcacitas

Due to its peculiar shape, it is one of the icons of the state. You can ascend this volcanic rock but it is always advisable to go with a guide because it is characterized by its dense vegetation and in some segments fog is very common. Located in the municipality of González, two hours from Tampico.

TULA

Cañón del Salto

It is one of the most surprising natural beauties in Tamaulipas, you can enjoy a nice hike and go down its almost 500 steps to reach the end of the canyon and be surprise by its beautiful waterfall. Located an hour and a half from Tula.
