LOCATED AT THE FOOT OF CEBORUCO, THIS BEAUTIFUL TOWN HAS A RICH ANCESTRAL TRADITIONS

Jala is located at the base of the gigantic Ceboruco volcano, from which you can enjoy a splendid panoramic view of the surrounding villages.

It is a Magical Town with cobblestone and irregular streets lined with old adobe houses with tiled roofs and balconies adorned with colorful flowers that invite us to enjoy its peaceful and friendly atmosphere.

There is the ancient tradition of "healers," people who dedicate themselves to harmonizing both the physical and spiritual aspects. If you want to learn more about this tradition, Jala is an excellent choice.

It is located 72 km (one hour) from Tepic and 138 km (two hours) from Guadalajara.

Tourist Attractions in Java

Basílica Lateranense

Built in the 19th century, this basilica has a unique construction with a single tower in the center and incorporates neoclassical, Gothic, and Roman elements. It is built with different types of quarry stone, including green, yellow, and pink.

Inside, the sculpture of the Virgin of the Assumption, dating back to the 18th century, stands out.

Antigua Capilla de San Francisco

Built in the 18th century with a simple facade, it preserves some remains of the ancient church built by the Franciscans in 1582.

Jala Community Museum

The museum has three rooms where a collection of artifacts found in the archaeological sites of the region is exhibited. It is located in a 19th-century house.

Opening hours: Monday to Friday from 9:00 to 14:00 hrs. and from 16:00 to 19:00 hrs. Saturdays from 9:00 to 14:00 hrs.

Explore the Ceboruco Volcano

You can hike to the main crater of the Ceboruco Volcano and enjoy the incredible landscape surrounded by petrified volcanic lava that resembles a lunar landscape. There is a geological park where you can engage in mountain climbing and mountain biking. To climb Ceboruco, you need to inform the Municipal Presidency.

Enjoy Beautiful Waterfalls

Another great adventure in Jala is visiting the El Salto Waterfall, located just seven kilometers from Jala. It is a worthwhile excursion.

Another natural site not to be missed is the Jumatlán Waterfall, the highest waterfall in the state, with a 30-meter drop.

Climb Cerro de la Cruz

The unique feature of this hill is that it has three crosses similar to those on the Corcovado Mountain in Brazil, offering excellent panoramic views of the city.
