Its name means "The Black Giant" and it has an altitude of 2,280 meters above sea level. It is a wonder of nature that reveals many geological treasures, huge black stones, petrified lava flows and cones.

The ascent is not very demanding. From the top you can see the towns of Jala, Jomulco, Ixtlán del Río, Ahuacatlán, Uzueta and Tetitlán, as well as the occasional fumarole.

It is currently protected as a Geological Park that reaches an extension of 1,500 ha.

The crater is the nucleus of the different ramifications in which the volcano is integrated. Its last eruption was in the year 1879.
