The Otomí people knew this place as "a place abundant in water" due to its more than 400 beautiful springs.
The town is highlighted by the San Bartolo Church, dating back to the 18th century, with its characteristic wooden door and a single-body bell tower.
In the surrounding areas, you can visit the forested areas of Corral de Piedra and Capilla Vieja, where hiking, camping, and mountaineering are practiced. You can also visit the San Lucas Waterfall, and in the upper part of the basin, you'll find El Campamento Hacienda Nueva, El Rincón, and El Ejido San Bartolo, all offering camping areas, restaurants, and cabins.
If you're a fishing enthusiast, there's Rancho Feshi and Rancho San Lucas, where you can not only catch and savor trout but also relax in a temazcal bath.
