MODERNITY, HISTORY AND TRADITION

Toluca is the capital of the State of Mexico. It is a cosmopolitan city with deep-rooted customs and traditions that are reflected in its colorful festivals and the boundless imagination of its artisans.

The city boasts an important tourism service infrastructure and various attractions, such as historical buildings, recreational centers, and museums, among which the following stand out: the Museum of Anthropology and History, which exhibits the history of the region from pre-Hispanic times to the Revolution; the Museum of Popular Cultures, which showcases various expressions of popular art; and the José María Velasco Museum, which displays the works of the renowned landscape painter.

It is pleasant to walk through its portals, which with 118 arches are the longest in the country; here, you can purchase local products such as traditional sausages, cheeses, and typical liqueurs. In the civic square, beautiful buildings such as the Government Palace, the Chamber of Deputies, and the Supreme Court of Justice are located. Nearby, you will find the beautiful cathedral with a baroque facade from the 16th century, which contrasts with the building of the famous Cosmo Vitral, an art nouveau-style iron structure with a magnificent set of stained glass windows that houses an interesting nursery.

Toluca is a starting point for exploring many of the archaeological riches and natural beauties that the state offers. Located 14 km away is the Zacango Zoo, built on the grounds of a former hacienda. It is one of the largest zoos in Latin America with over 250 species and 1,500 animals from all continents. Additionally, there are two small artificial lakes and the Museum of Natural History, where dioramas and preserved animals are presented in their natural habitat.

Its climate is temperate sub-humid with an average annual temperature of 18ºC.
